Building Updates

"Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house so that I may take pleasure in it and be honoured, says the LORD" (Haggai 1:8).

By God’s grace and with the support of our community, we could purchase a property at 347 Kelvin Road, Orange Grove in 2015 with the intention of building a parish church and related facilities for the St. Joseph Syro-Malabar Parish Perth. From then, we have been eagerly waiting, praying and working hard to bring this dream into a reality. Through struggles and sufferings, God held our hands and guided us.

As a result of our prayers and hard work, our Development Application was approved on 23 July 2017. Thereafter we started working with the designs for construction and raising funds for the project. In June 2018, we called tenders for the project and we finalised Alita Constructions as our builder in March 2019.

We lodged a building permit application for the forward works (site set out, earthworks, in-ground services, footings, and ground floor slab) and it was approved by the city council on 06th June 2019. Our application for time extension and design amendments to Development Approval was also granted on 11th June 2019. The designs with all variations were completed in November 2019 and our application for further amendments and time extension was approved by council on 22nd November 2019. We started the stage-one works on site on 07th May 2020. We received the Loan offer for $3 million on 02nd July 2020. The Building Permit for the stage-two was granted on 30th July 2020. Currently we are trying to gather more funds to carry on the works without delay. I thank everyone for your cooperation and hard work towards this dream of our own parish church. Let us continue to pray for the successful completion of this project so that we and our generations may have a place of our own to worship God and to grow in faith.

Prayer for Church Building Project every Monday from 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm with Eucharistic Adoration at Maddington Church.  (Holy Mass in English at 7.00 pm). Let us prayerfully join our hands to fulfill God's dream on this land.

The Word of God says, "Each one of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7)

As we progress with the construction of our church, I request your prayers and financial support.

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.” (Luke 6:38)

Dear friends,

Hope you are doing well by God's grace.

I just wanted to update you about the progress of our church building project and request your prayers and support. The first stage of the Church construction i.e. the earthworks started on 08th May 2020 and is progressing well. Please find some pictures of the works going on at the site. We hope to finish the first stage in August 2020 and to start the Stage two. Let us thank God for allowing us to start the works and pray for the successful completion of the project.

I would like to acknowledge and thank you all who work hard for this project and who support it with prayers and financial contributions.

As we have started the works, we are in need of your kind support. So, we have planned to start visiting your homes to request your financial contributions towards this church building project. Family unit leaders, parish councillors and building committee members will visit you in the coming weeks. Kindly support the project as you can, so that we shall have our church project completed successfully and we shall have our own church to worship the Lord. As the Word of God reminds us, '...for God loves a cheerful giver', let us give our financial contributions with a cheerful and generous heart. Also let us pray that the Lord may guide us and protect us in this endeavor.

Thanking you for your cooperation and support,

Yours in Christ,

Dear friends,

Hope you are all keeping well by God's grace.

It is with great pleasure and gratitude to Almighty God that I write this email.

By the grace of God, we have come to the stage of pouring slabs for the Church, Parish hall and Presbytery on coming Friday, 04th September. So, we will be laying the foundation stone, which was previously blessed by Bishop Bosco Puthur, tomorrow, 03rd September at 5.00 pm. Unfortunately, the Covid restrictions and the wet site conditions do not allow us to have more than 15 people attending the ceremony. It was also advised that we shall not encourage large number of people for safety reasons due to the wet soil and other works going on at the site. Therefore, only the members of the building core committee and a few priests and helpers will be attending the ceremony.

We will be live streaming the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony through our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Religious-Center/St-Joseph-Syro-Malabar-Catholic-Church-Perth-and-Western-Australia-818780764842353/) So kindly keep the ceremony and the works in your prayers. God bless you!

Thank you.
